The Lost Hollow
I’m a historian of technology, with an emphasis on computer communications networks. Last summer I tripped over a telegraph wire in my backyard. Then I noticed old dam foundations rise out of the low waters of a nearby creek. It dawned on me that the trees that surround my neighborhood are regrowth! And that buried beneath my and my neighbors’ lawns and houses are the remains of a 18-19th century social and economic hub. Everything here is non-fiction, with some easily identifying things left out, so we’re not doxxed so readily.
Stick around for the fires, floods, deindustrialization, drinking clubs, serial arson, enslavement, buried turbines and the gaping maw of capitalism. It’s going to be fun!
